Taking good care of your yard will help you make the most of your sod installation from Inland Sod. By choosing our water-saving, locally grown fescue sod, you can look forward to only having to water the yard two to three times a week over the season – affording you more time and energy to enjoy your lush yard without having to worry too much about yard care.
Heavily water the sod and soil three to five times a day. Your sod should be spongy with NO pooling of any kind. Carefully lift a corner of the sod to ensure the depth of water penetration is 4-6 inches.
In hot weather, continue to water your lawn three times a day. Adjust as needed to avoid pooling. If your grass is 3-4 inches tall, it is time to mow your lawn. Avoid cutting over one-third of the grass blade; this is the least stressful for new sod.
Reduce the watering schedule to 1 time a day for a longer period. Withhold water for one day to observe the lawn’s dry time. If it is still wet the next day, shift into watering every other day. This will allow your roots to go deep, chasing the water in the soil.
With our water-saving sod, you only need to water 2-3 times a week for the rest of the season. By watching closely for brown spots, you will find the perfect watering schedule for your beautiful Inland Sod lawn.
